I chose Hamiltons as I didn’t like how a Woman’s hairdressers cuts my hair. I messaged first and described with pictures what I was looking for. It’s ...the first time going to a barbers and I was quite self conscious, but felt a little better as the staff were friendly. I have been growing my hair out and it’s taken several months and it was the length I finally wanted. I explained in detail to the barber exactly what I was after, saying I was growing it out and I didn’t want the front cut, how it’s so thin, I asked for her to leave the length but it was the weight I needed so said I would like the layers trimming. Unfortunately, what I asked for isn’t what I got, the barber didn’t even ask how much I wanted off, or even look or touch my hair before she started cutting. There was no consultation chat, the barber literally started combing my hair forward and cut my fringe (which I’d been growing out) so short! It was cut straight across even though my hair goes to the side, she cut it so it was straight, she saw my face and said this will make it look thicker. Then she cut the sides straight across and short length,I said I like it messy but she kept cutting it in blunt lines half way down my ears. The barber then cut all the length off where I’d told her I’d been growing out!! There was no asking how much I want off, I asked for just the layers to be trimmed and weight taken off, instead I now have short hair with a straight fringe and because I’ve lost some hair and it’s thin, I now look like I have more missing! The sides where she cut straight across, have some longer strands where they have been missed out. It looks like a helmet on my head now. The barber took around nearly 2 inches off the length that I’d been trying to grow, there was no real consultation, I asked if they do women’s hair, if they weren’t confident then I would have been happy for them to say no!! It took a lot of courage to go in the first place, and now I feel so self conscious I now need to wear my hood! She showed me the back and I nearly cried, so I quickly left and had to put my hood up before I walked out. I’m sure as a barber clippers work is amazing, but if you don’t want to do women’s hair please don’t say yes! I now feel like I can’t go out and lost my confidence. I felt they didn’t listen to what I asked for at all. It took 12 minutes to ruin what I’d been trying to grow out! I don’t feel like she listened to what I wanted at all. Show more

I live in Newquay but visit Redruth frequently. I was looking for a Barber shop where I could book a time slot. Not many of those around. I’m a freque...nt visitor to Redruth so this fitted the bill. Standard sort of price so decided to book. I wasn’t disappointed. The atmosphere in the shop is amazing definitely my type of thing. Impressed by the decor which I would call old school. Was greeted upon arrival. For me it’s a whole atmosphere thing. Plus a bar of which I didn’t partake. My haircut was good with a wide range of products on offer. I will definitely be going back. Brought my toddler here, hes nearly 3 and was seen by Roxii. I am absolutely amazed at how easy the process was for him. I cut his hair at home before... this and it was such a stressful process for him as he suffers with sensory issues and gets very upset. He remained calm and relaxed throughout the process! Roxii was so kind and understanding of his needs. Would recommend to anyone who have little ones with sensory issues or who are just anxious! Show more
