I noticed the business name change from Sapphire Halsted to Black Onyx when I booked and was admittedly a little hesitant until I saw Gala's name. I'...ve been coming to Sapphire Halsted for many years and when I say I love everything about this place, I mean it. I love the bright space filled with art, fun music videos and chill vibes. The talent is unmatched. The techs keep the convo flowing when I'm feeling chatty, and don't press me when I just want to zone out. That's big for me. I've never had a bad mani, but IMO, Gala is the best. She meticulously removes every last shred of cuticle (and not in a way that hurts or makes my nail beds angry and red) and applies polish with such care. You can tell the owner takes great pride in his business because of the effort that he puts in to hiring great people and keeping the place looking nice. I always leave feeling relaxed and my nails looking amazing. I've never had a bad experience here and I look forward to visiting Black Onyx for years to come! Show more

They started my appointment 15 minutes late. I was kinda annoyed but then I remember I made it the night before and they might not have gotten the app...ointment until the next morning when I went in. Anyways, my artist did an incredible job the experience after the wait was amazing. Show more

My manicurist did a horrible job, took shortcuts and the manicure started to chip the very next day. She had a really bad attitude as well! The other ...times I’ve been here has always been really great. This new manicurist is terrible. I should be given a refund or credit. Show more

After looking at Google I had high hopes especially paying 95 dollars for a no chip pedicure and manicure. I’ve had these on for less than 24 hours. ...Haven’t washed dishes or anything just been traveling for vacation. The most I had done is use hand sanitizer and washed my hands. Tried to call a couple times but didn’t get a response. Show more
