Barber shave (2)

Meet Gary Mace – the barber from the UK, a co-owner  of the Kingsman Male Hair Salon and a member of the Booksy family. Read as Gary talks about his profession.

So much going on in the industry, personally I feel the Menspire lads are in a league of their own and are trial blazers the industry.

Is there a client that you will never forget?

I try to remember them all. I guess I'll never forget a guy who once came to me wanting wig trimmed.

What do you think about the Booksy app?

These guys have totally revolutionised our business.

How (and when) did you get into barbering?

It was 8 year ago. Fell into it after working for American Crew as  an account manager.

You've just opened your barbershop. What is it like to be a new barber in the neighbourhood?

Very exciting, we've created a lot of interest. I’m very fortunate to be working in such a lovely environment.

What do you like the most about being a barber?

Being able to express my creativity and meet really interesting people at the same time.

What's your favourite cut?

Executive contour with classic tight tapers.

Some people say that being a barber is not a profession or a hobby, it's a lifestyle. Do you agree?

It's in my blood and always will be. However, I believe you need to have a balanced approach between business and personal time.

Do you prefer clients that tell you exactly what they want or the "make me look good" type?

We always advise clients what would work for them according to hair type and lifestyle. A consultation is a key to any cut or service.
