Memberships aren’t just for gyms or companies like Netflix and Amazon. Many salon and shop owners have found memberships or packages to be a great way to kick-start their business growth. Let’s take a look at how Booksy’s Memberships and Packages features can not only build client loyalty, but can also help grow and stabilize your business.

Benefits of selling Memberships

Increase client loyalty - Memberships aren't always a standard offering in the beauty and wellness industries, so offering Memberships or Packages can help you set yourself apart from your competition. And once a client commits to a membership, they are less likely to pay attention to what your competitors offer. The extra benefits in a memberships also make your clients feel special, and this will continue to reinforce their loyalty.

Increase your revenue - Memberships can also bring in additional revenue. Clients with a membership will return more often, and they'll be more inclined to purchase add-on services or products since their membership is already paid for.

Attract new clients - Memberships can also kick-start your referrals and word-of-mouth. With the right membership benefits, clients will naturally start to tell their friends.

Tips for Introducing Memberships

Create a Membership Based on Benefits, Not Discounts - While Memberships may offer a small discount, they should focus more on providing additional benefits. Not only does this help maximize the money you bring in, but providing additional benefits will elevate your client's experience. A better experience is much more valuable than a discount.  Here's a few examples of benefits your membership program can include

  1. Members Only hours during premium appointment times or outside of typical business hours
  2. Product discounts
  3. Free add-ons or between service touch-ups (ex: free nail art on 2 fingers or free trim between haircuts)
  4. Discounts on new products/ services the client hasn't tried
  5. Guest passes for friends or family

Keep in mind your current business goals - Match the benefits your membership provides with your current business goals. Here's a few examples:

  1. If you want customers to book additional services: Offer discounts on on any services your client hasn't tried yet as a membership benefit
  2. If you want to sell more products: Provide product discounts as a membership benefit. Since members pay their membership fee upfront, they'll be more likely to purchase products or add-ons.
  3. If you want to attract new clients: Good membership programs will naturally bring in new clients with referrals and word-of-mouth, but offering guest passes will really help you get the ball rolling.

Don't forget to advertise your new Memberships  - Create signs you can post at your checkout counter or chair, and use the Social Post Creator to announce memberships on your social media. Make sure your clients now about your new offering!
