Some clients at Spa rituals get 5 weeks wear from their gel polish, which isn't recommended if the nails lift and get stuff trapped underneath. Gel polish is designed to last 2-3 weeks, if stuff is left under the lifted nail it can lead to nail greening and possible nail plate infection. Different base coats are used according to your nail plate strength to get the most out of your application and for the best care of your natural nails. Please don't peel these off. Gel polish gets a bad reputation for ruining nails when more often than not it's the peeling off that does the damage, it's been put on to last so when peeled off it will take several layers of natural nail along with it.       You'll leave knowing whats on your nails, how to make them last. Almond, short and square, coffin/ballerina, squoval, what shape and length will you choose, what design will you choose?... Gel applied correctly these days is as strong as acrylic without unhealthy aroma of solvents. These extensions are built/sculpted using forms, they feel more natural as they match the c curve of your natural nail so you don't have to endure a 'bruised' feeling for a few days, also as tips aren't glued onto the nail the enhancement will be stronger as it is one item applied to the nail instead of two. Infills after two weeks are £30, infills after 3 weeks are £35.

At Spa Rituals gel is filed off with precision instead of soaking off. The reason for this is regular exposure of soak off solution or acetone was causing damage between the layers of keratin in the natural nail resulting in soft 'chewy' nails needing a break more often. Careful filing with precision with manual nail files has shown to be safer for the natural nail for regular clients at Spa Rituals. Please note we only remove hard gel and gel polish, we do not remove acrylic.

      A reflexology treatment stimulates the reflexes in the feet to trigger self healing in the body. The body is mapped out on the feet. Your feet will be cleansed with hot mitts, cleansed energetically with a palo santo smudge, which allows your feet to be more open, then a relaxing massage to start, then we begin the diagnostics where we find energy blockages. Energy blockages can show themselves as crunchiness or bubble wrap popping or as a slight hardness or slight swelling or a mild bruising sensation. During your treatment you can be silent and drift into relaxation or ask questions. Often people ask, "Whats that bit?", It's really interesting to find out where your blockages are. At Spa Rituals you will have extra time taken on the areas of blockage to assist the body in self healing. Lemongrass essential oil blend is applied to the areas of blockage to help the breakdown of uric acid (that's what causes the crunchiness and popping). A satisfying foot massage follows the diagnostics with a lovely cream that soaks in leaving a silky feel to your warm and glowy feet. Or choose to have the treatment on your hands...

      Reiki translates to life energy. Reiki is an energetic healing using universal energy that every living being is already connected to. A Reiki treatment channels more of that energy into you via the chakras of the Reiki practitioner. Some clients feel the energy, as a magnetic feeling or as heat or as a tingling sensation or sometimes all three at different times. Reiki heals on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. The only time Reiki is not appropriate is to use it on a broken bone before it has been set back into the correct place (if that is needed). I am attuned to level 2. I did level one at the age of 19 and 2 at the age of 21, now 38 at the age of writing this I am interested in doing the master level but still don't feel quite ready to support other practitioners in this magnificent healing modality. I will place my hands on your chakras (I hover over the base chakra) and can often be able to tell you where blockages may be and what you can do to assist in further clearing after your treatment, I often go off-piste and am drawn to particular areas of the body that need some assistance. So all you need to do is let yourself drift away and see what comes up for you in your meditative state. There have never been two Reiki treatments the same, it's fascinating and magic, if it's your thing.

Try not to leave it on for more than 8 weeks, for some, 8 weeks may even be too long, I (Claire) have witnessed toe nails get almost as thin as skin with gel left on for 3 months. it's tempting when they look good for ages, but natural nail health is more important. Your toes may be fine with gel on for a long time, but it's my job to let you know this stuff.

    • St Tropez spray tan

      Get 8 days of a more tanned you! Choose from light or medium or dark. The St Tropez light solution goes on clear and you wash off when you reach the colour you like. The medium and dark goes on with guide colour so you look brown straight away but they take 8 hours to develop underneath the guide colour then you gently shower off the guide colour. I can help you choose the shade that's right for your skin tone and your confidence in self tan. Do your usual hair removal 24 hours before your tan. Do a body scrub 24 hours before. Don't wear deodorant to your appointment, you'll get green pits. Don't moisturise on the day of your tan, it may act as a barrier. Do wear baggy clothes to your appointment and whilst your tan is developing. Don't get wet whilst your tan is developing, this is easy to forget and plunge into washing up or dribbling a drink or brushing teeth, or being in the rain on the way home. Do exfoliate gently on day 3 or 4, it will help with an even fade rather than a patchy one. Do moisturise with a light lotion daily. Remember chlorine will reduce the depth of your tan quickly. Remember a spray tan does not give you sun protection. Spray tan is safe during pregnancy. The guide colour does not stain your sheets, however darker sheets may be a good choice for your tan developing nights. I provide the paper pants or you can wear your own dark coloured undies. You can be 100% naked, topless, in dark underwear or bikini or a swimsuit for your tan, do what you're comfortable with and please know I'm just focusing on getting your tan even, I've seen all shapes and sizes and all are beautiful!
