    HD Brow Patch Test

Patch tests are collected from the salon & done at home. The test delivers a small amount of product to your body. It allows you and your Stylist to monitor and check the area for any signs of a reaction. You’ll be able to identify an allergy before you’re fully exposed to the products. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees to any patch test. Our bodies can develop an allergy to any ingredient at any time, regardless of previous exposure. How do I receive a patch test? We want you to be as a safe as possible during and after your HD Brows treatment. We understand that having a post-able patch test is much easier for you than visiting the salon 48 hours before your appointment. Alternatively, some salons may offer you a ‘Topical Patch Test’. This is where they apply a blob of the dye to your arm. Don’t be concerned, this method of Patch Testing is also recommended by us and our manufacturers. The post-able transfer tests have been designed for convenience rather than a must-use method.

    LVL Patch Test

LVL lashes recommend a patch test before every treatment, however after the first patch test, if you are a returning client within 6 months then you can decline another patch test but you will be asked to tick an online box prior to every treatment to confirm that you are happy to have treatment without a test. LVL treatment products and tint products touch the skin and therefore we recommend that a sensitivity patch test is performed by every client before every LVL treatment. LVL sensitivity patch tests can be carried out in the salon or can be performed by clients at home.

    Lash Extension Patch Test

Cyanoacrylate is the main ingredient in lash adhesive and also the reason for most reactions. It is an irritant for your skin, eyeballs and respiratory functions. We use an EU regulated adhesive. Testing on the skin is the old school method for patch testing and is not a clear indicator for showing if a reaction will occur or not. That being said, applying a few lashes also DOES NOT give a clear indication of whether or not a reaction will occur either! This is because of 2 reasons. 1. A patch test does not give full exposure in the same way a full set will. 2. Lash adhesive allergies are cumulative (they build up over time). It’s more likely for allergies, sensitivities and reactions to occur in clients that have been having lashes for 6 months or more than in first timers! Testing for allergies As stated above, either method of patch testing will not give enough exposure to the eyes, lashes and respiratory functions in the same way that doing a full set would. This means that a small patch test will NOT  accurately test for allergies and a reaction could still occur even if the patch test results are fine! Most of the time, reactions happen in clients that have been having lashes applied for a longer period of time. This is because the sensitivity will build up each time you are exposed to lash adhesive. It is unlikely (although it is possible) that you  will already have an allergy to Cyanoacrylate if you have not been exposed to it before. NOTE: Nail Glue and Super Glue are Cyanoacrylate based. A true patch test Do you want to know what a true patch test really entails? A true patch test is testing every product that you plan to use on that specific treatment. Lashes, adhesive, eye pads, cleanser, primer, tape etc. Do you know the problem with a “true patch test”? It still wouldn’t give full exposure and even IF a reaction did occur, you’d then have to figure out which product it was that is causing the problem! Cyanoacrylate allergy If someone is allergic to Cyanoacrylate, unfortunately, they won’t be able to have lash extensions done. That said, most reactions / sensitisations are due to the vapours / odours coming off the Cyanoacrylate adhesive. The moisture in the eye naturally attracts the vapours and can cause sensitisation.  1. A patch test does not give full exposure in the same way a full set will. 2. Lash adhesive allergies are cumulative (they build up over time). Here’s an interesting bit of information for you: It’s more likely for allergies, sensitivities and reactions to occur in clients that have been having lashes for 6 months or more than in first timers! Now that you have read the patch test method comparison and understand why patch tests are now completely OPTIONAL. You are of course welcome to at patch test but if you were happy to go ahead with a lash extension treatment with signing a waiver to say you understand the risk this is also available.     COVID Patch testing - If you have tested positive for cover in the past or have had your Covid vaccine - You can book a patch test collection. LVL & HD Brows can be collected and done at home. Extensions testing will be done in person at least 48 hours before.    Reactions & Removal   In the case of a reaction even with a negative patch test. You must return to have your extensions removed. This is done by peeling each extension of the natural lash. Additional chemicals are not used when a reaction is present.   As an emergency appointment I this can be done 1st thing.   Removal is free but the original service is non refundable.
