For what may have been just a hair appointment for some, this was so much more for my daughter. They have been too anxious previously for a proper hai...rcut, and struggle with new people, places and experiences, whilst desperately trying to figure out their style and who they are. They didn’t speak much throughout the appointment, which is usual… But were made to feel comfortable and understood. As for after the cut & style… They are brimming with confidence, more than I have ever seen before and have not stopped talking about their new hair!! Today was my first time having my hair cut at this place, and it was such a great experience! From the start, I felt really listened to, and the music... they played was amazing—it set such a good rock vibe. The haircut itself was incredible; Buck paid so much attention to every little detail and made sure everything was just right. Even after facing Brighton’s windy weather, my hair stayed looking great! Buck really worked his magic and nailed the style I was going for, and the anime-inspired cut at the end was the cherry on the top. I’m so grateful for his talent—he’s a true hair wizard! Show more

Buck is a fantastic hairdresser, and works hard to make sure you feel heard and safe (because having your hair cut can feel quite vulnerable!). They'r...e always great to chat to, and I know they offer the option of a quiet cut too if that's your preference - accessibility & genuine inclusion is clearly a priority for him and it shows at every step of the process, from the booking form onwards. To say that I was blown away by the team at Lightning Like Scissors is a massive understatement. In alphabetical order to acknowledge their combined c...ontribution, I would like to sincerely thank Buck, Kaia (sp?), Karen and Prince for their decency, respect, kindness and generosity of spirit, and I do so from the very bottom of my heart. In particular, Prince did a stellar job of helping to control my stress levels. Buck is undoubtedly one of the most kind, insightful and knowledgeable people that I've spoken to in recent memory, and they did such a fantastic job of restoring my appearance by fixing my hair that I think I might now be able to face the world properly again. As someone who is all of enby, neurodiverse and trans, I'm not accustomed to being cared for and supported in this modern world that we find ourselves in, and my appointment was an infinitely rare chance to bring myself out of the misery and mire that forms the horror show of cisnormative society. Got a hot new do, was pretty terrified going from long hair to a short style but had a really good experience. Got to talk through and figure out what... i wanted, and buck was great and understanding. Felt like i was able to say what i felt about how it was looking, when we initially finished my hair didnt feel quite right and i was feeling overwhelmed by it as i couldnt figure out what needed doing. We arranged for me to come back in a couple days after i could live in it for a bit (and get over the shock of such a big hair change), and soooo grateful for this suggestion.
