A simply top tier establishment. Highly recommend Alessandro! I have now been fortunate to visit both there sites and I can say in a sea of barber sh...ops doing the same thing, Il Barbiere is a cut above the rest, excuse the pun :) This place is professional, yet friendly. Relaxed environment, yet attentive and inviting. Ultimately it's all about the cut and for somebody that can be fussy at the best of times, I was pleased at the time of my haircut (and importantly even a few weeks later, when it grew out. A sign of a great hair cut!) Overall a complete and enjoyable experience coupled with a quality, sharp, technical trim and lovely people. If you're simply visiting the area and need a barber you can trust (like me), or just looking for a new experience, I would definitely give them a try. Show more

I’ve been going to il barbiere ever since moving to Manchester about 5 or 6 years ago. Alex was my first barber there, and now I have my haircut by Di...onne. I’ve always had barber anxiety (if there’s such a thing) but now I never even have to think about it. I love my haircut cut every time, and I love the experience of visiting the shop. Alex is very talented, and has also hired some really talented barbers. They don’t just stop at their skills in hairdressing, but also their attention to customer service. Everyone that goes there is treated like a long time local at a village pub. I have so much trust in Alex and his team. Alex has created an institution. Manchester wouldn’t be the same without this barbers. Show more

When James worked here it was the #1 place to go for a haircut. I thought (wrongly) that the other barbers there was would be just as good as him. Dur...ing the consultation I asked for a mullet with cut sides instead of clippered, keeping it long on the back and top. First move the barber makes is to set up his phone for him to watch (what I assume to be) FOREX prices going up and down. He checked his phone several times during a 20 minutes hair cut. You're at work, show some professionalism. The haircut was not what I asked for, I basically got a scissor cut short back and sides, the first cut he made was 3 inches off the back. There is nothing mullet like about this haircut, youd think a barber in Manchester of all places would know what mullets look like. I understand no haircut will be perfect, but Allesandro looked like he'd rather be anywhere else than cutting my hair, which showed in the cut. I spent more time waiting for a guy to get a line up from Alessandro than I spent getting the cut itself. I got a haircut I didn't want and paid £27.50 for the privilege, fantastic. I've got no problem leaving this review because I won't be going back, hopefully James has space at his studio soon. I've never had an experience so bad i felt compelled to leave a review, but I left one on Google and here just so people get the message. Show more

While I’m sorry to read this review, I must say I’m quite surprised, as it doesn’t reflect what actually happened during your visit. The haircut was checked with you in the mirror at the end, and you confirmed you were happy with the result — even leaving a tip. I take great pride in my work and in making sure no client ever leaves the chair dissatisfied, which is reflected in our 5.0 rating prior to this review. Regarding the phone, it was open due to an ongoing customer service matter and was never used or touched during your haircut. I understand how that might have been misinterpreted, and I’ll ensure it doesn’t create confusion in the future. I always welcome constructive feedback, but it’s important for it to be based on the full context of the service provided and discussed with us in order to immediately sort it out.
